A holiday musical co-written and produced by a Prince George teacher, Kevin O’Brien, will take the stage at Vanier Hall.
Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen opens on Dec. 6 and will run for four consecutive nights until Dec. 9.
It tells the story of Mrs. Claus who is feeling underappreciated at the North Pole and discovered a magical recipe for drawing families together.
There are elves, laughter, song and dance and a chance for the audience to get “hands on” in the kitchen.
It is also set on the cusp of the 1960s, when modern Christmas really came of age, and takes the audience on a tuneful ride filled with charm, laughter and a fresh look at the hustle, bustle and real worth of a family holiday.
It was written by veteran Prince George teacher Kevin O’Brien alongside Bill Allman and Alan Marriott featuring musical arrangements and orchestral recordings by Disney’s own Matt Grinkle.
Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen was originally directed and choreographed by Vancouver’s own Jeff Hyslop, star of Today’s Special and The Phantom of the Opera.
It was produced twice in Vancouver, in 2013 and 2015 and boasted sold-out houses in both runs.
This holiday musical is now coming to Prince George, where it will be performed at Vanier Hall at 2901 Griffiths Avenue in Prince George Secondary School with tickets available at the door.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with curtain at 7 p.m. and there will also be a matinee performance on Dec. 7 with doors at 11:30 and curtain at noon.
Tickets will only set you back $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
