Some Prince George bus routes are being cancelled and others are being reduced as a way to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an effort to continue social and physical distancing for commuters and riders, BC Transit says its schedule is adjusting to summer-level service starting Sunday (March 29) in coordination with the city.
The following routes are discontinued until further notice:
- 12 Parkridge
- 17 UNBC
- 18 Spruceland
- 96 and 97 Kelly
The following routes are being frequently reduced:
- 15 UNBC / Downtown (including late-night trips)
- 55 Victoria
BC Transit says this also means any trips with an ‘X’ or ‘U’ beside them are being removed.
In a statement, the provincial service says its important to still provide critical transportation to Prince George residents who ride buses on a regular basis, but the focus will shift to reducing service to schools and post-secondary institutions as they are already closed due to COVID-19.
“BC Transit continues to work hard to provide transportation services you can rely on to get to work, including health care facilities, and other essential activities such as grocery shopping and getting prescriptions at pharmacies.”
The service adds it’ll continue to monitor COVID-19 and could implement more plans ‘as appropriate.’
