Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Environment Canada said be prepared for severe weather and to take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The forecast for today is mainly cloudy. A few showers beginning this afternoon with a risk of severe thunderstorm late this afternoon and a high of 20. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorm.
