A Prince George woman has been sentenced to a further 93 months for child pornography charges.
She cannot be named due to a publication ban.
She was arrested after police received a tip that she had child pornography on her tablet centering on images of a young female child.
After she was arrested, the woman admitted, in a statement to police, that she made and distributed child pornography images and has remained in custody since her initial arrest in July 2019.
However, in September last year, while corrections officers transported her to a medical appointment, she attempted to escape.
It was reported to the RCMP and a police service dog was called in and a track was established.
The dog located the woman’s discarded prison clothing and quickly located her under a porch of a residence.
She was sentenced to an additional three months for this incident.
According to the judgement from Justice Brecknell, the woman’s child pornography collection was not small and contained various media, included the victimization of the young girl and other children, and “she did not stop her criminal activities on her own accord. They continued until she was discovered.”
For a period of 10 years, she will also face various prohibitions, such as attending a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 are present.
The woman pled guilty and the courts have recommended that the Correctional Service of Canada incarcerates the woman at a facility were resources are available to address her sexual offending and substance abuse.
