He’s touted as one of the most successful wrestlers in the history of Prince George Secondary School (PGSS).
Now, Isaac Le Morvan is set to join the most successful post-secondary school in Canada West wrestling in signing with the University of Alberta for the 2020-21 season.
While he may not have earned hardware at provincials, the PGSS Polar completed a rather impressive high-school resume competing in the 63-kg weight class.
This included back-to-back north central-zone individual titles (2019, 2020), Zone Eight Wrestler of the Year honours, a silver medal at the Western Canada Age Class Championship and a bronze at SFU’s War on the Floor tournament.
"Among our 2020-21 recruitment class, Issac I feel is the biggest unknown, because he comes from such a remote area in B.C.,” says Golden Bears Head Coach Owen Dawkins about his new recruit.
“However, I feel that he shows an enormous amount of potential, and the sky's the limits for him."
Le Morvan joins an Alberta wrestling squad with 12 conference titles from the men’s mat, six in the 2010s, and finished second at last year’s championship in Calgary.
Canada West’s Board of Directors announced yesterday (May 11) that ‘team sports’ will be shortened for 2020-21 to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.
Wrestling is listed as a ‘championship sport’ in the conference, which, for now, is set to proceed as normal next year.
