Prince George's OVERHang Climbing Gym announces possible COVID-19 exposure

OVERhang Climbing Gym in Prince George has announced a possible COVID-19 exposure.

In a social media post dated Nov. 7 the gym announced one of its clients has tested positive for COVID-19.

“The health and safety of our employees and clients is our top, priority and we commit to being open and transparent with you,” states the gym. “We have been in communication with provincial health authorities and we are following all protocols and procedures for our team and clients.”

OVERhang says management is also personally contacting all clients who may have been potentially affected, based on contact tracing reports.

Those who were in close contact are being asked to self-isolate and get tested while anyone in the facility at the time but not close contact is asked to self-monitor.

The possible exposure dates at OverHang Climbing Gym. located at 2601 Recplace Dr., were Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Nov. 2 from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

The gym says the COVID-19 positive client has not been in the gym since Nov. 2.

OVERHANG says masks have been mandatory at the gym since the beginning of November, along with physical distancing. 

"We will continue to monitor the situation closely and have at this time decided to voluntarily close the facility for the rest of the weekend. We will use this time to continue to clean the facility and are researching the best practices for a detailed and effective clean.'
