Prince George choir Tapestry Singers has a new home.

The choir, which has been operating for 12 years under School District No. 57’s umbrella, is now branching out on its own.

The choir’s new home will be Trinity Downtown, a church known for hosting community arts groups. Tapestry Singers can now accept all youth to join their choirs, including private, public, online and home school students.

The 2019-20 choral season will mark Tapestry Singers' 13th anniversary. Tapestry Singers will be holding "Everybody’s Welcome" rehearsals for new people to try out the choirs. The first rehearsal takes place Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. for junior singers and 6 p.m. for senior singers.

The choir is composed of junior singers, including Grade 4 to 7 students and the senior singers, including Grade 7 to 12 students.

Tapestry Singers also needs some new items to get up and running this fall and are accepting donations. The choir is looking for a laptop, portable sound system, a five-disc CD player and speakers, two-level trolleys, whiteboards, overhead projector and black choral music stands.

If you would like to make a contribution, you can contact choir founder and artistic director Carolyn Duerksen at [email protected].
