Another company with locations in Prince George has stepped up for those on the front lines in Northern Health during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Canfor's three pulp mills in the city have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the health authority, which has three service-delivery areas.

Spokesperson Michelle Ward says since Northwood Pulp Mill's turnaround is delayed, it had extra supplies on hand to donate.

Items included N95 masks, respirator valves, coveralls, eye protection as well as different kinds of gloves.

"We want to express how grateful we are for our employees, contractors, suppliers, customers and communities as we combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic," Ward said in an email to PrinceGeorgeMatters.

"Canfor’s top priority is actively working to ensure the health and safety of these groups and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19."

As of publication today (April 7, 1:45 p.m.), Northern Health has 23 confirmed cases of the virus in the authority while the provincial total sits at 1,266 along with 39 deaths.
