A Prince George man well known to police and courts has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for his role in a home invasion and to one year probation for a dangerous drive that stretched from Vanderhoof to Prince George.
Cameron Gregory Boyes was issued the terms Monday in Prince George provincial court for an Aug. 18, 2021 incident at a 100-block River Road home on counts of breaking and entering, assault with a weapon and possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm.
Boyes was also sentenced to one year probation on the count as well as for a Sept. 26, 2021 incident in which, according to RCMP, he was reported driving at a high speed along Highway 16 and collided with another vehicle while passing through Vanderhoof.
A spike belt was deployed at Beaverly and, with the help of a dog team, he was arrested a short time later.
The term of probation was also applied to counts of assault, motor vehicle theft and breaching a release order from a Nov. 8, 2021 incident.
Boyes had spent a total of 214 days in custody on the counts prior to sentencing.
Charges against a co-accused from the home invasion, Joshua Edward Joseph, were stayed in November.
