The B.C. Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General crime prevention coordinator will be among the speakers at the gang crime summit.

Jaret Hunter will appear at the break-out session Monday on community assessment action networks.

His current portfolio focuses on preventing youth gang violence and youth involvement in gangs, and he is one of the coordinators working on the provincial youth gang prevention strategy.

Hunter, who works in the ministry's victim services and crime prevention branch, is originally from Winnipeg and began working for the B.C. provincial government in 2006.

Prior to his work in government Jaret was the program manager for a non-profit organization focused on preventing the sexual exploitation of children and youth.

Hunter will be joined by Catharine Kendall, coordinator of the community assessment action network in Prince George, who works out of the Justice Education Society office.

Their presentation will highlight the work underway to prevent youth from becoming involved in gangs and gang violence.

Their session runs from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.
