The city is hosting an open house for the public to share its input about the refurbishment of Carry Jane Gray Park tonight at the Prince George Family YMCA at 6 p.m.

The city of Prince George wants your input on the development of Carrie Jane Gray Park and is hosting an open house tonight at the Prince George Family YMCA (2020 Massey Dr.) from 6-8 p.m. to discuss future uses of the popular downtown park

The in-person public consultation is a follow-up to a meeting in May with key user groups about the city’s plan to refurbish the park to premier athletic park standards. The city wants to prioritize the upgrades needed to help user groups who base their activities at Carrie Jane Gray Park attract local, provincial and national competitions and tournaments.

The concept plan will help city planners develop budgets and future investments which will help guide budget deliberations.

Phase 2 of the project will result in design of a construction-ready package, to be completed later this summer. Construction would happen in Phase 3 in the spring/summer of 2025, dependent on capital plan and budget approvals by city council.

The focus group meeting on May 14 included Prince George Youth Baseball, Prince George Senior Men’s Baseball, Spruce City Men’s and Minor Boys Softball and Supertrak BMX Club.

The park also encompasses the beach volleyball courts, Carney Street lacrosse box, Jumpstart basketball/tennis courts, Rotary skate park, Masich Place Stadium and the Prince George Secondary School athletic field. There are three baseball fields and three fastball/softball diamonds in the park.
