There won't be any fireworks over Prince George on Canada Day.

You won't see fireworks on Canada Day, as there's currently a ban on them in the City of Prince George.

This affects celebrations Monday, but also affects anyone considering shooting off firecrackers on their own or for a business, the city states in a press release. Fireworks permits are not available.

Prince George has been under a fire ban since March 28. This does not apply to campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide, or camp stoves that use gas. propane or charcoal briquettes.

Fines for violating the ban can be $1,150, with further penalties ranging from $10,000 or if convicted in court, up to $100,000.
