A month-long investigation has culminated in the arrest of a suspect and a dismantling of a drug trafficking operation in Quesnel, RCMP said this week.

Police said the man had been the subject of an investigation by the RCMP's crime reduction team since November. Members made their move on December 9 when he was seen "engaged in drug trafficking activities."

He was arrested and RCMP subsequently secured a search warrant for a home in the community of about 10,400 people 116 kilometres south of Prince George.

From the home, RCMP said they seized 79 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of methamphetamine, 34 grams of heroin/fentanyl, 123 grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms), $6,940 in cash, a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, a Taser and body armour.

"Drug trafficking continues to be a priority for the Quesnel RCMP," said Sgt. Richard Weseen. "CRU is making a positive impact on the fight against drug and property offenders since their inception in the spring of 2020.

The man, whose name was not provided, has since been released from custody pending charge approval.
