To reduce bicycle theft and improve the recovery rate if a bike does get stolen, Prince George RCMP are offering help with a free digital registration service called Project 529 and they will be at a variety of locations this week to help with the process.

It only takes about five minutes to register and includes information like owner's details, the bike's serial number and photos of the bike alone and with its owner. If the bike does get stolen, an alert can be distributed throughout the network of other registered bikers using a smart phone app.

Prince George RCMP are inviting people to come to the detachment at 455 Victoria St. from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday night to get registered.

Those attending the VLA Family BBQ in Strathcona Park Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. can register then and Downtown Summerfest attendees can register with the local RCMP members' help from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at Canadian Tire Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
