Whether you’re walking for 24 consecutive hours as a team or on your own, there may be a new set of wheels waiting for you on June 9.
Prince George’s 27th Relay For Life takes place that weekend where local residents and fundraisers will walk in a circle for a full day in support of those who suffer from or have died from cancer.
Northland Dodge is chipping in an incentive for those who may be on the fence about participating by offering the chance to take home one of two new cars via a draw at the end of the walk.
Dealer Principal Peter Sia says this will add some encouragement to participants, but believes people should also sign up for what the Relay For Life echoes to the community.
“The motivation is that we’re tired of watching people die from this disease,” he said to PrinceGeorgeMatters. “If there’s any part that we can be a part of, whether that’s helping find a cure or helping out when people come out of town to get therapy, it’s touched all of us. So, we need to do whatever we can to help.”
Now, there is a catch!
Only those raising funds get an automatic ticket for the contest, which features a 2019 Nissan Micra or 2019 Hyundai Elantra, and they have to raise a minimum of $500.
Each time someone raises an additional $500 on top of that, up until June 8 at midnight, they’ll get another entry into the draw.

The event benefitting research opportunities for the Canadian Cancer Society also strikes a personal chord with Sia after losing his father to the disease, and whose wife also currently lives with thyroid cancer.
“It means a lot for me to be a part of the cure and with the cause. It’s not a good disease; it hurts, it’s awful, and no one should have to go through those struggles. So, just sign up because one day, if you’re touched by it, you’ll be thankful that you did the walk. Open your hearts, get out there, and donate.”
Prince George will walk for 24 hours from June 8 and 9 at Exhibition Park in the parking lot next to the CN Centre.
