Police have made an arrest in connection to an armed bank robbery that occurred in the city last week.
Neil Robert Simpson, 38, from Chilliwack was located around 11:30 p.m. Friday at a motel on Queensway. RCMP arrested him without incident and Simpson was held in custody through his first court appearance Monday.
On the morning of Dec. 17, Prince George RCMP responded to an armed robbery at the Spruceland branch of Scotiabank after a single man produced what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the staff before fleeing on foot with a quantity of cash. No injuries were reported.
Simpson is facing a variety of charges, including robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, using an imitation firearm while committing the indictable offence of robbery, uttering threats and pointing a firearm.
At the time of the incident, Simpson was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large as a result of failing to abide by conditions of his parole.
