The event will take place at CN Centre in April.

For the first time since 2015, Rogers Hometown Hockey is returning to Prince George.

The event will be held from April 9 to 11 and include a festival at CN Centre on April 9 and 10, and a nationally televised Sportsnet broadcast on April 11.

The family-friendly, Covid-safe weekend will tell the stories of local upcoming talent and alumni, and provide an inviting atmosphere for the community to come together to celebrate the game of hockey.

Rogers Hometown Hockey was scheduled to return to Prince George in 2020, but the event had to be cancelled due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Throughout the 2021-2022 NHL season, the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour has visited a different community with a weekend of free hockey festivities for all ages, culminating in an outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast every Monday, with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone hosting live onsite from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Rogers Hometown Hockey for bringing the tour back to Prince George for a second time. We are looking forward to participating in another fantastic weekend with the Hometown Hockey team, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to show the rest of Canada what makes Prince George such a great place to live and play. We invite residents to join Ron MacLean and Tara Slone outside for the broadcast, and to participate in all of the events over the weekend,” said Lyn Hall, Mayor of Prince George.

“Council would also like to thank City staff for working with Rogers Hometown Hockey to help bring this fantastic event back to Prince George.”

The national Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast featuring a showdown between the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens will be televised on Sportsnet and will take place on April 11 live from the parking lot of the CN Centre.

Local hockey fans will be able to take in the sights, sounds, and spectacle of a national broadcast in their own backyard, in accordance with provincial health guidelines.

On April 9 and 10, from 11:00am until 5:00pm, the CN Centre parking lot will feature free hockey-centric events and festivities for all ages.
