Sewer and water development in Willow River goes to referendum

The awaited referendum on the subject of sewer and water development in Willow River will happen on Saturday in Electoral Area F of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

"The regional district is asking qualified electors to vote on whether they are in favour of borrowing up to $2.2 million to establish a community sewer and water service in the Willow River area," said the regional district's chief election officer Karla Jensen.

The loan would be paid back over a 25-year period.

Voting stations will be established at the Willow River Fire Hall and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George office from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday.

Voting is open to persons who meet the following qualifications:

18 years of age or older as of Feb. 5, 2011;

Canadian citizen;

Resident of British Columbia for at least six months at the time of registration;

Resident or registered owner of real property within the voting jurisdiction for at least 30 days immediately preceding Feb. 5, 2011;

Not otherwise disqualified by law from voting

Electors are asked to bring two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) that proves both residency and identity.
