Barton fire

Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four halls converged on a 500-block Victoria Street building Tuesday morning.

Called to the home of Barton Insurance and the Prince George Surgery Centre at 10:37 a.m., they found smoke and smell of burnt electrical wires coming from the second story.

An electrical boiler that shorted out was determined to be the source.

No one was injured and thanks to "fast-acting" occupants who deployed an extinguisher before leaving the building, PGFR said the fire was out by the time they arrived.

Crews remained on scene for another 90 minutes to check for fire extension, ventilation and overhaul. Damage estimate is not yet available.
