A crew from Trimline Signs updates the Prince George sign at Highway 16 and 97 last Tuesday afternoon.

There's no final price tag, but work has finished on the revamped Welcome to Prince George sign at the intersection of Highways 16 and 97.

The project was a joint collaboration between the city's 100th anniversary and Enhance Prince George committees and parks and solid waste staff to incorporate elements of the upcoming centennial, the 2015 Canada Winter Games and the city's location on traditional Lheidli T'enneh territory.

"Updating of the sign reflects similar welcome signage entering the city from the north on Highway 97 and was to be completed in time for centennial celebrations in 2015," said a city press release.

Northern Dynamic Metalworks provided free water cut aluminum lettering for the sign, which was installed by contract-award winner Trimline.

"The materials used will improve visibility of the sign, provide protection from future damage and allow for ease of repairs when required," said the press release.
