A water main break is the cause of a traffic disruption in downtown Prince George.
The city responded to reports of a burst pipe in front of the Canadian Western Bank building this evening (Nov. 14), around 6:30 p.m. according to our readers, causing a road closure at Victoria Street and Third Avenue down to Brunswick Street.
According to a social media post, the cast iron water pipe was installed in 1956.
Although water flow has stopped since the apparent break, crews are working to excavate the site which will likely continue into the morning hours tomorrow (Nov. 15).
Properties on the south side of Third Avenue have no water service and could cause dirty water in the area.
Residents living nearby are asked to run their water as long as they have to until its clean.
Commuters are also being asked to detour around crews until the damages have been repaired and roads are open.
