Jason Hall, 14, had a fun way to earn a bit of money at the Junk in the Trunk event at the CN Centre on Saturday, Sept. 28.

He offered a friendly challenge to bargain hunters: If he can solve a Rubik’s Cube in less than 30 seconds, they'd pay him $1, but if he missed the mark, he would pay them $1.

The Citizen took that challenge, which saw him hand over the cube so it was scrambled by someone else. He then solved the Citizen’s cube in 16.21 seconds.

Jason said he first started learning how to quickly solve the popular puzzle by watching YouTube videos and has now perfected a technique that works for him.

Next up, he’s considering entering speed-cubing competions.
