Some City of Prince George parks set to reopen April 1

Also on the list are sports facilities and public washrooms

Rainbow Park is one of Prince George's green spaces. Its outhouses reopen April 1.

As the snow melts and temperatures continue to rise, the City of Prince George Parks division has been monitoring closed parks, washrooms, and outhouses for their expected opening dates.

Below is the list of parks and their facilities with their anticipated opening dates: 

Park Openings:

  • Jumpstart Multisport Courts – April 1
  • Masich Place Stadium – April 1 for public walking, bookings, and user groups.
  • Beach Volleyball Facility – April 1, washroom availability expected by mid-April (weather dependent, dependent on frost levels).
  • Nechako Riverside Park – April 1 gates and outhouse opening
  • Rainbow Park outhouses – April 1
  • Carrie Jane Gray Park – Gate opens April 1
  • Connaught Hill Park – Mid-April, weather dependent

Washrooms and spray parks:

  • Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park (LTMP) public washrooms – Mid-April (weather dependent, dependent on frost levels)
  • Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park Spray Park – May 16, 2025 (weather dependent)
  • Duchess Park washroom – Mid-April (weather dependent, dependent on frost levels)
  • Sports fields: Sports fields will remain closed until early May, depending on weather and field conditions

Drinking fountains: The following drinking fountains will be opened in mid-April (weather dependent):

  • Masich Place Stadium
  • Jumpstart/Rotary Skate Park
  • Duchess Park Playground
  • Duchess Park Dog Park
  • Ingledew Dog Park
