Southern Interior woman killed in highway crash near Summit Lake

One woman was killed in a rollover this morning on Highway 97 a half hour north of Prince George, which closed the highway for several hours. The highway was expected to be open to single-lane alternating traffic by 3:30 p.m.

One woman was killed in a rollover this morning on Highway 97 a half hour north of Prince George, which closed the highway for several hours.

The highway was expected to be open to single-lane alternating traffic by 3:30 p.m.

The RCMP continue to investigate the crash which took place about 11:30 a.m in the area of Tallus Road near Summit Lake, 30 to 45 minutes north of Prince George.

The rollover collision was witnessed and reported by several motorist who stopped to assist the two occupants of the GMC pick truck, said the RCMP.

The 50-year-old driver received injuries, however the 47-year-old female passenger was killed when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over in the ditch.

Both occupants were transported to the hospital in Prince George.

The occupants were both from the Southern Interior community of Chase, BC.
