There is 1,501 well-planned square feet of Spruce Kings Show Home at 2668 Links Drive waiting for a big score by one lucky lottery ticket holder May 15.

It's not the only prize in the lottery.

There are four secondary prizes left to be won, including draw 7 on Feb. 10 of a Mexican Riviera cruise for two valued at more than $5,000, draw 8 on Feb. 24 for a trip for two valued at almost $3,000 to Las Vegas. Draw 9 on March 10 is $1,000 custom furniture package and draw 10 on March 17 is a Disney family vacation valued at more than $6,000.

There are 8,500 tickets printed at $100 each and more than 5,500 have been sold so far.

The show home itself, built by Scheck Construction and valued at $434,000, is located in the Aberdeen Glen subdivision. The home features eight-foot tall doors that accentuate the expansive main floor. The basement is partially finished with a family room and roughed-in plumbing for a bathroom. Lighting is donated by McInnis lighting and the surround sound and alarm system is provided by Curtis Elite. The laundry room is on the main floor and the appliances provided by Northern Hardware are included with the house.

"This fundraiser creates revenue for three quarters of our operating costs for the Spruce Kings team and without the Spruce Kings show home there wouldn't be a hockey team - that's how important it is to the organization," said Jim Young, marketing manager for the Spruce Kings lottery.

The Spruce Kings are proud to provide an opportunity for team members to have access to higher education while playing hockey. Over the last 13 years, 56 Spruce King players were offered comprehensive athletic scholarships to colleges and universities in the United States and at least 55 others continued their education at various Canadian universities and colleges.

"We'd like to thank the supporters of the lottery," said Young. "Every year we have the same people come up to the table to purchase the $100 ticket. This year we also had a mega 50/50, which sold out in one month and the prize is $40,000. We attribute all that success to those buying the tickets because without them, we wouldn't be able to do this over and over again."

This is the 31st consecutive Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery.

The show home is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in the Aberdeen Glen subdivision. Head up Hwy 97 North, turn right on Northwood Pulp Mill Road, turn right on Club House Drive, turn right on Links Drive and then look for the house on the left.
