Quesnel RCMP have arrested a man accused of being in possession of a stolen logging truck.

The truck and trailer were stolen from a business on Quesnel Hixon Road at about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The trailer was found abandoned later that day. The truck was spotted on Highway 97 near Alexandria at about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. RCMP found it in the McLeese Lake area, and pursued a suspect who allegedly tried to flee on a stolen motorcycle. The 29-year-old was arrested with the assistance of Williams Lake RCMP as well as RCMP canine and air services.

Thanks to the hard work and co-ordinated efforts of all those involved, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen truck and motorcycle, stated Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

The suspect was due in court later Thursday.

The truck has an estimated value of about $65,000. Police say the theft may be connected to similar incidents in the same area.
