Veterans Plaza at City Hall saw the sun shining brightly on guests at the chilly Winterfest celebration presented by Downtown Prince George on Saturday until 4 p.m.
The Patterson family comes to the frosty event every year and since they live near Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park they just walk on down, Dad Tim said.
“We get our picture on the ice chair and another tradition is to ride the train and we do the s’mores as well,” Tim said. “It’s a little pared down this year but we’ll be playing hockey with the Cariboo Cougars next.”
The event offered road hockey games with the Cariboo Cougars, face painting, children’s activities, free rides on Cottonwood MiniRail and music by DJ Ant.
There S’Mores Downtown contest saw teams participating in a friendly competition with people attending the event as the big benefactors of those delicious creations. The Outdoor Food Court offered a variety of food from Frank’s Family Concession, Afro Caribbean Cuisine, Origins Kitchen and The Gosling by White Goose Bistro.
The Royal Canadian Legion offered a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon and then lunch from 11:30am to 1pm.
