In an email, a BC Housing spokesperson confirmed that the agency is planning a supportive housing facility at the site.
"BC Housing understands the need for safe, warm homes to help address the housing crisis in Prince George and across the province. Community engagement has already begun with the immediate neighbours," the spokesperson wrote. "BC Housing has worked closely with the City of Prince George through the rezoning application process for the Queensway properties, with City Council expected to hold the first and second readings on May 8, 2023. While development plans will be confirmed following further analysis and engagement, an operator will be selected through a procurement process."
The project is part of a $19-billion investment in housing by the B.C. government.
