Fort St. James RCMP are urging businesses and shoppers to be wary after seizing a "large amount" of allegedly counterfeit cash from a home in the community.

Police said a business in the town of 1,900 people 150 kilometres west of Prince George alerted them to a discovery of suspected funny money on Mon., Aug. 8.

With the help of surveillance video, they identified some suspects, traced them to the address and, on Thurs., Aug. 11, executed a search warrant on the home.

"We would like to remind everyone to continue to be diligent when accepting cash as payment as there could be more currency circulating through town. If you come across suspected counterfeit money, you are asked to call the police," said Cpl. James Potyok.

Fort St James RCMP can be reached at 250-996-8269.

Tips can also be left anonymously at Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers, at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca or 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

Charges from the seizure remain pending and names of the suspects were not released.
