He may have been an immature braggart who told an undercover police officer he killed a man, but Jesse Norman Sweder is no murderer, a jury was told during a closing summation Tuesday in Prince George Supreme Court.
Sweder, 29, is accused of murder in the Dec. 11, 2004 shooting to death Peter John Letendre, then 35. Letendre's body was found in the snow on Norwood Street near 20th Avenue.
Defence counsel Jim Heller argued Sweder took credit for the killing because the officer posed as a Hell's Angel and wanted to ingratiate himself.
The officer could've chose any of a number personnas but chose to be a full-patch biker because "there is something alluring about people who've made money from crime," Heller told the 11-person jury.
