The BC Cancer Foundation is thrilled to announce that its 2010 Inspiration Gala Sunday night raised a record $2.69 million to fund a new and first-of-its-kind lymphoma research project in B.C. at the BC Cancer Agency.

The BC Cancer Foundation is thrilled to announce that its 2010 Inspiration Gala Sunday night raised a record $2.69 million to fund a new and first-of-its-kind lymphoma research project in B.C. at the BC Cancer Agency. Lymphoma is one of the fastest-growing, and now the fourth most common cancers in B.C. and North America. The Angelyc Project will be the first-of-its-kind study of the entire DNA of all lymphomas, both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin types.

The research is expected to change the landscape for lymphoma research in B.C. and the lives of lymphoma patients and their families across Canada and potentially around the world.

Two-time lymphoma survivor Kathy McLaughlin told guests she was a living miracle. "I wouldn't be here to tell my story if it weren't for the advances in treatment made possible by research," she said. "That is why I believe so strongly in the ANGELYC Project - we have the chance, right here in B.C., to invest in breakthrough research that could mean the difference between life and death for thousands of people diagnosed with lymphoid cancers in the future."
