The Takla Nation has had a confirmed case of COVID-19, and will be on lockdown for two weeks and restricting access to the community of Takla Landing.
The nation will be setting up a checkpoint to monitor travel into the community, located 355 kilometres north of Prince George on Takla Lake.
"The community is now on High Alert and is monitoring access to all visitors and nonresident members. Applications can be requested through [email protected] to enter the community," a statement issued by the Takla Nation on Thursday said. "We are monitoring all travelling community members and ensuring that they are following the 14 days self-isolation once returning back to community."
The Takla Nation member who tested positive for COVID-19 has been transported out of the community and is in self-isolation. The Takla Nation is working with the First Nations Health Authority and provincial public health officials to conduct contact tracing, the statement said.
"The community is on a two-week shutdown, all services in community are closed such as (the) administration office, community school and the hotel," the statement said. "(The) Takla Trading Post and restaurant will remain open with enforced safety precautions. (The) health centre is open by appointment only."
