A tax preparer based in the northeastern B.C. community of Kelly Lake has been fined $2.95 million after pleading guilty to tax evasion and filing false goods and services tax returns.
Shawna Gauthier must also service a conditional sentence of two years less a day and perform 200 hours of community service work.
The sentences were meted out Wednesday in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver.
