The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) held a press conference at The Exploration Place Friday, July 19 with the Debt Clock truck showing the provincial debt going up in real time on a huge digital screen.
The provincial debt currently sits at more than $112 billion which necessitated a new display for the truck as the previous debt clock could not display the number, said CTF B.C. director Carson Binda.
The individual portion of the debt for each British Columbian is calculated at over $20,000 if all residents regardless of age are counted.
Binda has just finished a tour of the Peace Region and will continue travelling with the clock to explain the rising cost of government debt for British Columbians.
After Prince George, the tour was schedule to go through Quesnel and Williams Lake before heading on to Cranbrook, Revelstoke and Osoyoos and the lower mainland.
