Just a little over a month after receiving the donation, the Prince George Hospice Society has added its latest addition to helping local residents cope through COVID-19.
The non-profit has purchased a large tent to allow families to share the same space as a patient, but maintain social distancing while doing so.
“Funerals are different, celebrations of life are different, so during COVID-19, and maybe even moving past COVID-19, we can offer that to some people,” said Executive Director Donna Flood upon receiving the funds on June 26.
“If you don’t have that moment to pause, remember, talk and share stories, it’s really hard to get the rest of the grief journey going.”
Paziuk and Associates Private Wealth Management of Prince George donated $2,000 to Hospice so it could purchase the tent, as well as three iPads to provide virtual connectivity.
It’s also a response to, what Hospice says its observed, the need for grief support during the pandemic.
Flood explains the tent’s service will be by donation as she hopes Prince George will be able to use it in honour of celebrating a loved one that’s passed on or one that’s currently in residence.
