Prince George city council voted Monday to expand the liquor license at the PG Playhouse.

The Prince George Playhouse will now be serving libations along with its soliloquies.

At Monday's meeting, councillors approved a liquor license application that will extend the the venue's serving space into the theatre area.

That will only be for events catering to an audience over the age of 19, staff said.

The approval doubled the space now open for alcohol, as laid out in a map of the venue provided to councillors.

"This application is not expected to have a negative impact on the community or produce any significant negative land use impacts on adjacent properties," a staff report said.

Coun. Brian Skakun and most of his colleagues agreed.

"It makes sense and hopefully it makes a bit of money," Skakun said.

Two councillors - Albert Koehler and Garth Frizzell - voted against the motion.
