Are you looking for a new best friend? A furrever companion for long walks and cuddles?
The BC SPCA’s North District Cariboo Branch, which is located in Prince George on Lansdowne Road, recently announced on their Facebook page they currently have a lot of dogs available for adoption.
You can make a difference in the lives of one (or two) of these adorable pups! A number of the dogs listed are seniors who had a rough start in life and deserve a second chance to live out their remaining years in a loving home.
Before you fall in love with these adorable pups, please remember that you have to meet the dog in person and ensure that you are the right match.
Also remember that the SPCA can’t guarantee the animal is still available for adoption when you arrive at the shelter, as another person may be going through the adoption process.
With that said, meet the dogs at the North District Cariboo Branch:
Peanut and Rover:
Peanut and Rover are male chihuahua/Italian greyhounds. They are three years old and are both awaiting neutering. Both brothers are friendly little guys that can be timid in new situations. They are looking for a forever home where they can be together.
Willow:
Willow is an adorable black and white pitt bull terrier/labrador retriever. She is one year and six months old and is currently waiting to be spayed.
Blue:
Blue is a white fluffy bundle of energy. He is a seven-month-old maremma sheepdog/bernese mountain dog cross. He came to the SPCA a short while and is looking for someone that will have lots of time. They say Blue is fairly under socialized and will need someone to introduce him slowly and properly to new things, places and people. But he is food motivated and is willing to please and learn. Blue is a bit fearful and gets worked up quite quickly however once he gets over that he is snuggly and very loyal. The SPCA says a big yard or acreage is a big bonus for him, but he still needs to get neutered and will need to learn some basic obedience.
Baron:
Baron is a nine-year-old toy poodle who had a rough start in life. The SPCA says he is looking for a calm, patient home that will help him learn that life can be amazing and fun. Baron will take a bit more time and effort than a well-adjust dog as he came from a place where he had no access to outside and limited interactions with humans, which has resulted in his shy character and lack of potty training. The SPCA says Baron has shown that he loves to spend time with people and would appreciate companions that are sweet and quiet just like him.
Jonas:
Jonas is also a nine-year-old toy poodle, who had a rough start in life. But the SPCA says he is well on his way! He has had some fur loss from stress, he is still adorable and is looking for the forever home he deserves. Although he was very fearful when he first came in, the SPCA says he is rapidly showing his fun-loving side now that he’s starting to feel better.
He loves bum scratches and lets you know by jumping for joy. The SPCA is looking for a home from him where he can get spoiled with lots of yummy treats to help him put some weight back on and gain confidence. He will do well in a home that is quiet with no kids as he doesn’t like sharing his time.
Chloe:
Chole is a six-year-old toy poodle. She came to the SPCA underweight and scared, but with lots of love, she is starting to come out of her shell. The SPCA says she can still be shy and nervous of new and fast-paced things so she will need a home with older kids only. Once she warms up, Chloe loves to run and bounce and burn off energy. The SPCA says she will need a home that is willing to work with her little quirks and help build weight back. Her new family will get to watch her blossom into a happy fun loving girl.
Jade:
Jade is a 10-year-old doby cross looking to hold a special place in someone’s heart. The SPCA has been working very hard to get her to the point of trusting humans, especially men. They say she has come a long way and is looking for someone that can manage a dog that is quite fearful of new things and people. She needs someone who has a quiet and consistent routine, ideally not a busy household or young children. The SPCA says otherwise she is housebroken and loves walks, is great on a leash and loves attention! She also loves to do zoomies around the yard.
Jade does have a few medical concerns that require her to be on medication for life but these medications are not overly expensive. The SPCA says she is a very mellow and quiet and would love to be able to lounge around on a big fluffy dog bed (or couch) beside her favourite humans!
