A third rally as part of the Black Lives Matter movement in Prince George has been postponed.
The anti-racism protest showing solidarity after the death of George Floyd at the hands of U.S. police was originally scheduled for this Friday (June 19) at the steps of city hall.
Fridays for Future, the group coordinating the event, explains time was a factor in making their decision this afternoon (June 16).
"We needed to have more meetings with people and it was a bit rushed," the group tells PrinceGeorgeMatters.
"We are going to plan everything out and then pick a date just so it can be planned as best as possible. We also didn’t consider some schedules of those who helped us a lot last time."
Fridays for Future also organized the first Black Lives Matter protest at city hall on June 5, where hundreds of residents then took the streets of downtown Prince George.
The next day (June 6), a second rally took place at Mr. PG at the corner of Highways 16 and 97, which drew hundreds more.
At this time, there's no estimated time on when a third gathering will take place.
