Have you ever been curious about what it’s like to have a ferret?

Maybe you’re not a cat or a dog person and you’re looking for a pet?

Whatever the case may be, Ferrets North Information and Rescue Society is giving you the perfect introduction into these lanky little furry creatures.

They are hosting Ferret Frenzy at the Prince Geroge Public Library’s Knowledge Garden, where the non-profit group will be providing a presentation, answering questions and, best of all, letting you meet and interact with some ferrets.

The Prince George-based rescue group says many people get ferrets not realizing how much work they can be and, as a result, are rehomed multiple times in their lives, not provided with appropriate vet care and often die young.

The group says many people don’t realize ferrets are domestic animals who depend on the kindness of humans to survive.

Which is why you rarely, if ever, see stray ferrets because they absolutely cannot survive on their own.

Ferrets North’s goal is to educate the public about what it’s like to bring a ferret into your home and to better prepare people for being ferret pet owners.

The group’s team of volunteers rehabilitates, rehomes, and cares for abandoned and abused ferrets from 100 Mile House north.

The free all-ages drop-in event takes place at the Prince George Public Library’s Knowledge Garden on Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 2 p.m.

If you would like to learn more about ferrets, you can attend the free event or check out Ferrets North’s website for even more information.
