This Prince George mall will require refundable deposits for kiddie carts, wheelchairs

Keep cash on hand if you plan on taking your loved one to Pine Centre

The Pine Centre Mall is making a change that has already received mixed reviews.

Starting Monday (March 18), the Prince George facility will be asking residents to pay a deposit if they need to use a kiddie cart, stroller, wheelchair, or power scooter.

This is to replace the current policy of leaving a piece of ID with the service desk, but the deposits will be fully refunded once the carts are returned.

In a social media post this morning (March 14), the mall says “identity is very important” and they “want to ensure you are the only one in charge of your ID.”

If you want to use a kiddie cart, stroller, or wheelchair to get around the building, you will need to give $10.

Power scooters will need a $20 deposit.

Pine Centre will only be accepting cash in exchange for the use of these items.

The mall posted the update after 10 a.m. today and residents have already voiced their opinion on the matter.
