June 7, 2004: Veterans and members of the public gather at the Cenotaph the day before to honour the 60th anniversary of D-Day, the day Canadian and other Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France and helped bring about the end of the Second World War. The ceremony featured an expression of thanks from Jerry DeWit, who was a boy in the Netherlands when the country was liberated from the Nazis by Canadians.Citizen photo by Dave Milne
