Thunderstorm watch issued for Prince George

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for this afternoon in Prince George.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Prince George for this afternoon.

Keep your eyes peeled for thunderheads, which could bring strong wind gusts, lightning, torrential rain and hail. Up to 10 millimetres of rain is predicted near where the storm clouds are centred. The chance of a thunderstorm will remain in effect this evening with winds from the southwest at 20 kilometres per hour.

More rain is in the forecast for Friday, with a high of 19 C, after an overnight low of 10 C.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high of 20C. More showers (60 per cent chance) are expected on a cloudy Sunday, with a high of 19 C.

A mix of sun and cloud is in store for Prince George on Monday, with the high reaching 22 C and a 40 per cent chance of precipitation. Summer heat will return Tuesday and Wednesday with highs of 26 C predicted for both days.
