The RCMP arrested two suspects after three vehicles and a trailer were stolen from a Milwaukee Way property on the weekend.

Two people were arrested after fleeing police in stolen vehicles over the weekend.

Prince George RCMP learned at about 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 that a Ford F350, a Toyota Tercel, a Ford F250 and a 2024 Southland flat deck tri-axle trailer were stolen from the 8900 block of Milwaukee Way. The vehicles were in a locked compound, police said.

The Tercel was located the next day on the 9500 block of Sintich Road shortly after 2 a.m.

Responding officers attempted a traffic stop, but the car and its occupant fled, striking an unoccupied police vehicle on its way.

Police then successfully disabled the front tires with a spike strip near the intersection of Old Caribou Highway and Highway 16 East. However, the suspect continued to drive with no front tires until hitting a snowbank at the intersection of Irwin Street and 4th Avenue.

The driver, who was known to police and had one outstanding warrant, was arrested and held in custody until he could attend court.

Just before 6 p.m. Sunday, police spotted the stolen F350 driving southbound through the Buckhorn area on Highway 97.

Again, spike belts were deployed to stop the vehicle, successfully twice popping both front and back tires.

Like the first suspect, the driver of the F350 fled with damaged tires until he hit a ditch and ran on foot. A police dog team located the suspect and he was arrested and held in custody until he could attend court.

The suspect was known to police from previous interactions and had four outstanding warrants, police said.

Despite one police vehicle being struck and the dangerous driving exhibited, no one was injured during these investigations, said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police are still looking for the red Ford F350 and the  flat deck trailer.
