New health and safety measures are being implemented by Tourism Prince George at its Visitor Information Centre on First Avenue.
As a result, the organization says it’ll reopen the facility on July 1 as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to see a reduction of cases in northern B.C. and as the province’s restart plan is underway.
Tourism PG closed its visitor centre doors on March 17 to help stop the potential spread of the virus, but now CEO Tracey McBride looks forward to welcoming back residents and incoming tourists on Canada Day.
“While things may look slightly different at the Centre this summer with some modifications to the physical space, our staff and summer counsellors will provide the same excellent customer service and guest services as we always have.”
If you’re wanting to visit the information centre, Tourism PG is asking the public to adhere to the following safety measures:
- Occupancy limit of four parties or six individuals at a time in the building
- Limited gift shop inventory on the floor and in display cases
- Reduced number of pamphlets and guides for visitors to be provided by staff
- Rotating staff hours to accommodate the new occupancy limit
- Plexiglass barriers where physical distancing isn’t possible
- New health and safety signage/decals
The Visitor Information Centre will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Tourism PG is requesting local residents with visiting friends or family to contact the Centre in advance by phone or email so staff can put together an information package for easy pick-up.
A survey was also created for Prince Georgians to discuss the future of tourism in the city.
You can find it on the Tourism Prince George website.
