Two people dead following Highway 97 crash north of Prince George

Highway 97 was closed for nearly 11 hours last night (June 30) due to a fatal crash that killed two people.

According to Prince George RCMP Staff Sgt. Paul Collister, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. Sunday night when a northbound vehicle crashed head-on into a southbound transport truck, roughly 12 km south of McLeod Lake.

There were three people inside of the passenger vehicle; two were found dead when first responders arrived while the third was flown to hospital, believed to be the University Hospital of Northern B.C. (UHNBC), with serious injuries.

The driver of the transport truck was not injured

Their condition is unknown at this time and so are the identities and gender of the deceased.


Highway 97 re-opened shortly after 6 a.m this morning (July 1).
