U17AAA Cougars held off the score sheet in weekend doubleheader with Greater Vancouver Canadians

A pair of weekend shut outs sees U17AAA Cougars swept in weekend doubleheader against Canadians

The Greater Vancouver U17AAA Canadians were in town this past weekend taking on the Cariboo U17AAA Cougars in a weekend doubleheader.

The Cougars did not get the results they were looking for and were kept off the scoresheet thanks to the solid play between the pipes from Canadians goaltender Brendan Gee, who stopped all 36 shots he faced on Saturday evening for a 6-0 win, and Vancouver goaltender Jack Taylor, who turned aside all 25 shots that came his way in the rematch Sunday morning for a 3-0 victory to complete the weekend sweep.

Brady Mackay was in net for the Cougars Saturday evening and stopped 19 of the 25 shots on goal he faced, while Ben Delisi was in goal for the Cats Sunday morning and stopped 18 of the 21 shots the Canadians put on net.

Matthew Hikida led the scoring for Greater Vancouver on Saturday evening potting a hat-trick. Kai McComb, Luca Rizzardo and Sean Richards also scored in the win.

Sunday's scorers in the Canadians' victory were Luca Rizzardo, Bryce Peter Doyle Strandt and Quinn Orr.

Next action for the Cougars will be against the Vancouver North East Chiefs on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:15 a.m. Both games will take place in Scotia Barn - Rink 1 in Burnaby.
