This season has gone fast, hasn't it?
There are only three weeks left in the Canada West basketball regular season and UNBC only has series left against Alberta, UBC, and Lethbridge.
This weekend (Jan. 18 and 19), however, they are in Alberta where the men will take on the Alberta Golden Bears and the ladies will clash with the Alberta Pandas.
Both Alberta teams have had strong seasons to date, with the men sitting 11-3 while the women are 12-2.
The ladies sit third in Canada West standings and have clinched a postseason berth.
The men also are third in the Canada West men's table.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, haven't had as much success.
The UNBC women have had a decent season to date, sitting with a 9-5 record (Seventh in Canada West standings).
Where the struggle is, is the men's team, where they sit with a 7-7 record and also seventh in Canada West standings.
“We know things could be worse, so we are happy to have our destiny in our own control, rather than depending on another team to win or lose," UNBC's Jovan Leamy says in a release.
"I wouldn’t say we are right where we want to be, but we are hungry to get some more wins.”
The Timberwolves men's squad is on a three-game losing streak, while the women are coming into tonight (Jan. 18) with a one-game winning streak.
“Alberta is really strong, and their intensity level is always quite high," UNBC's Abby Gibb says in a release.
"We need to come in and initiate that intensity, so they have to match us. We should spread the ball around, so we can spread out the offence, and create open looks for our players.”
