UNBC ranked fifth in its category in Maclean's magazine's annual university rankings.
UNBC was one of 19 primarily-undergraduate universities ranked by the magazine. The list was topped by Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Lethbridge University, Acadia University and St. Mary's University in Nova Scotia. UNBC's ranking was down from last year, when it came in second behind Mount Allison.
“These rankings reflect the dedication of everyone in our community and demonstrate UNBC continues to be one of the best universities of its size in Canada,” UNBC interim president Geoff Payne said. “In what has been a challenging year for all of us, both here at UNBC and around the world, it is gratifying to receive this endorsement as we continue in our mission to support our students and researchers as they discover and share knowledge.”
UNBC ranked first in its category for students who'd won national awards, second for student-to-faculty ratio and fourth in total research dollars.
In the comprehensive university category, Simon Fraser University was ranked first, while the University of Victoria was tied for second with the University of Waterloo.
Among medical doctoral schools, the UBC ranked third, behind McGill University and the University of Toronto.
