UNBC's Office of Indigenous Initiatives holds Four Connections Summer Solstice celebration

Office of Indigenous Initiatives celebrates Land and Health during Summer Solstice event at UNBC

The University of Northern British Columbia's Office of Indigenous Initiatives held the Four Connections Summer Solstice celebration on Thursday afternoon at the Agora Courtyard. The theme of the Summer Solstice was Land and Healing and this event was presented in coordination with a Lheidli T'enneh hosted Land Health and Healing event.

The celebration was hosted by Dr. Henry Harder, Vice-Provost of Indigenous Initiatives, and Brandon Prince, Manager, Office of Indigenous Initiatives, and featured an opening prayer and words from Lheidli T'enneh Elder Darlene McIntosh, words from UNBC President Geoff Payne, and a virtual presentation on the importance of land and healing from Dr. Tina Fraser. There was also storytelling and live music from Elder-in-Residence Marcel Gagnon, and Ivan Paquette.
