UPDATE: Highway 97 cleared after vehicle incident south of Prince George

Accident took place near Alexandria Ferry South Road

Drive B.C. says an accident on Highway 97 roughly 160 km south of Prince George has now been cleared.

This follows what appeared to be a multi-vehicle collision this morning (Jan. 23) at Alexandria Ferry South Road almost 40 km south Quesnel.

A helicopter came to the scene as crews assessed the area.

One witness told PrinceGeorgeMatters one person had appeared to be injured, but believed they were going to be okay.

Police have yet to confirm any fatalities or injuries at this time.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and be aware of any crews that may still be on the roads.

Drive B.C. is reporting a closure on Highway 97 more than 150 km south of Prince George.

A vehicle incident has taken place at Alexandria Ferry South Road, located nearly 40 km south of Quesnel and crews are conducting an assessment on scene.

Both directions are closed as a result of this morning's (Jan. 23) incident.

There is no detour available for motorists at this time and are being advised to alter travel plans until the highway is open.
